Sustainable tourism

Hotel Viticcio adheres to the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST) in Protected Areas.
What is the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism?

The European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST) in Protected Areas is a practical management tool that enables Protected Areas to develop tourism sustainably.

The core element of the ECST is  working in partnership with all relevant stakeholders to develop a common sustainable tourism strategy and an action plan, on the basis of a thorough situation analysis. The aim of all ECST projects and activities is the protection of the natural and cultural heritage and the continuous improvement of tourism in the Protected Area in terms of the environment, local population and businesses as well as visitors.

The certification of accommodation facilities under the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism in Protected Areas is a useful tool to guide visitors in their choice of excellence in the area.

These are facilities that have voluntarily chosen to adhere to a specification drawn up under the supervision of the Europarc Federation and Federparchi, with the involvement of operators in the local tourism chain.

The Hotel Viticcio has obtained the certification and the right to hold the CETS label and operates with the other facilities with the following goals within the administrative territory of the municipal areas included in the Tuscan Archipelago National Park and the UNESCO MAB Biosphere Reserve “Tuscany Islands”:

improving its tourism offer and reinforcing its collaboration with the Park Authority: offering a quality service, providing information on the National Park and the MAB UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, developing activities for customers on the discovery of the protected territory, carrying out a responsible and effective promotion, working jointly with other tourism enterprises operating in the Park and MAB UNESCO Biosphere Reserve area;
paying attention to one’s own environmental behaviour: implement actions to save energy and water, reduce waste production, consume responsibly, manage the facility while respecting the environment, involve staff and customers in environmental management;
supporting local development and land protection: support local products and the local economy, influence tourist flows to lesser known areas or in the vicinity of the activity, contribute to local projects and initiatives.
